A recent update on Dwyane Wade's status as a Miami Heat player should put a smile on the face of supporters. According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, it appears that the 15-year veteran is warming up to the idea of playing at least one more season with the Heat.

Despite rumors of Wade's impending retirement, Jackson's anonymous source has claimed that the 36-year-old intends to suit up for Miami this season.

“One person who has spoken to Dwyane Wade – as well as a Heat person – have the impression that Wade seems inclined to play this season, but neither believes it’s definite and nobody outside his inner circle definitively knows his intentions. The Heat opens camp a month from Tuesday.”

Although encouraging, the source did leave a huge disclaimer by saying that nothing is definite. Then again, this new piece of information is still moving towards the right direction. It is still definitely a better update as opposed to news of Wade actually announcing his retirement.

When Wade returned to Miami in the middle of last season, many considered it to be a farewell tour of sorts. After following his good buddy LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer, things did not go according to plan for Wade in Ohio. Somehow, he still managed to salvage his season by forcing a move back to the Heat.

The 6-foot-4 guard was originally drafted by the Heat fifth overall in 2003. During his first stint with the organization, which lasted 13 years, Wade won a total of three championships. Those were definitely good times, and hopefully, Wade has a little bit more left in him for one final run.
