Shaquille O'Neal expressed jealousy for his former teammate Dwyane Wade likely getting a “farewell tour” after declaring this 2018-19 season would be his last after signing a one-year deal with the Miami Heat.
O'Neal, who won a championship with Wade in 2006, noted how he would've liked one instead of suddenly retiring after a brief stint with the Boston Celtics. Wade quickly responded to his former teammate.
“I never wanted a “farewell tour” but being in the position to have one is an unbelievable honor that I couldn’t rob my fans of,” said Wade in a tweet Friday morning. “Shaq you definitely deserved one and i would have loved to be apart of it. Thank you for believing in me enough!”
Wade will likely get one hell of a farewell tour after 16 years in the league, inspiring plenty of players and fans since he was drafted No. 5 overall by the Heat in 2003. Fittingly enough, Wade will get to finish his career full circle, playing 14-and-a-half seasons with the team that drafted him out of Marquette.
The man known as Flashwhiskers shy of $200 million in career contract earnings will come only , below draftmates LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh, who surpassed the milestone last year.
