Can we just give the Sixth Man of the Year trophy to Tyler Herro already? At this point, it seems a foregone conclusion, and with the way he lifted the Miami Heat on Tuesday night, his case only got stronger.

Herro top-scored for the Heat once again in their 100-92 win over the Detroit Pistons, finishing with 31 points on top of eight rebounds. It was a nip-and-tuck affair in the first two quarters until the Heat turned on the, um, heat in the second half led by the hot-sniping Herro who had 14 points in the final frame.

After the game, the former Kentucky standout once again proved that he's one of the most confident young guns in the NBA today (via ESPN).

“We played sluggishly for three quarters, but we got rolling in the fourth. I've always been the guy who took big shots, all the way back to high school, so this is the situation I love. I want to win games.”

Some might be turned off by Herro's supreme confidence, but he's definitely walked the talk this season. He vowed to have a bounce-back campaign after his sophomore slump, and so far, the Heat guard has delivered, helping the team to a 12-6 record.

Heat veteran Kyle Lowry tipped his hat to Herro after their win, saying it's easy to get assists when his teammate is shooting the way he did against the Pistons.

The Heat, however, have no time to celebrate as they battle the Minnesota Timberwolves on the second set of a back-to-back this Wednesday.
