ESPN NBA analyst Paul Pierce recently said he won't call Miami Heat rookie shooting guard Tyler Herro a “bucket” until the youngster averages 20 points per game.

In typical Herro fashion, the Heat rising star fired back at the Boston Celtics legend during a recent interview.

Paul Pierce will probably try and nitpick Tyler Herro's response by saying the 20-year-old only put up 19.2 points per game in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics.

However, it shouldn't take away from Herro's coming out party. After all, he is on a list that has Magic Johnson and Derrick Rose on it in terms of the most points scored by a rookie in a playoff game.

Herro poured in 37 points in Game 4 for the Heat against the Celtics.

Pierce clearly still isn't over all those losses his Boston teams took at the hands of Miami during his playing days, so he's going to find a way to hate.

For what it's worth, Heat legend Dwyane Wade called Pierce out on social media after his Miami team bounced the Celtics in six games on Sunday to advance to the 2020 NBA Finals.

Thus far in the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World, Herro is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 15 games. The former Kentucky star is shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 37.8 percent from beyond the arc and 89.5 percent from the free-throw line.

For the Heat to pull off the upset against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals, Herro will have to continue his stellar play on both ends of the court.
