Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro struggled with injuries in the Eastern Conference Finals and was largely non-impactful as they ended up losing in Game 7 against the Boston Celtics. However, the youngster reminded everybody that he's just getting started.
Herro missed three straight games in the conference finals after suffering from a groin injury. While he did return for Game 7, it was clear he was not at 100 percent yet and ended up playing roughly seven minutes in the eventual 100-96 loss.
Despite the setback and playoff disappointment, though, Herro shared that he is only going to learn from it. After all, he is just 22 years old with plenty of room to grow and improve.
“People forget I just turned 22. As I made a jump this year, I will continue to get better. There are going to be small setbacks, where I learn. It motivates me,” the Heat sharpshooter shared, per Barry Jackson of Miami Herald.
Tyler Herro won Sixth Man of the Year, and the jump he took in 2021-22 has certainly allowed the Heat to become the best regular season team in the East.
The Kentucky product admitted that he still doesn't know yet what he'll focus on to improve in the offseason, but he highlighted his need to be stronger physically.
“I know I want to get stronger. That takes care of a lot of things,” Herro added, per Wes Goldberg of The Ringer.
Herro has dreams of becoming a starter for the Heat next season, and there is no doubt he has the abilities to do so. Considering his commitment to improvement as well, Erik Spoelstra might just be convinced to do that and give him the starting nod.
