Victor Oladipo played just four games in a Miami Heat uniform before re-injuring a tendon in his right knee. Now after a lengthy stint on the sidelines, it looks like a return is imminent.

Before getting to this point, it's been an arduous journey for the former All-Star. He re-signed with the Heat following a second surgery for his injury back in May 2021, the same procedure he underwent with the Pacers in 2019. Oladipo revealed that the first surgery just didn't address his injury in the manner he needed but believes that this time is “different”.

“Essentially it wasn’t the right version for me,” he said. “It didn’t give me my best opportunity to get my leg back to where it needs to be. Things are different now.”

His Heat teammates are hopeful of that as well. Both Udonis Haslem and Jimmy Butler can attest to what they're seeing from the former All-Defensive team member.

“I’ve seen enough to know he’s definitely better than he was last year,” said Heat veteran Udonis Haslem.

“Looks great,” said Jimmy Butler. “He’s been working for a long time, countless amounts of hours and rehab in the gym and the weight room. I’m excited for him to get back. Whenever they say it’s go time, I will be happy to have him suit up for us.”

The Miami Heat are one of the deepest teams in the NBA fighting for contention in what looks like a wide open race. If Victor Oladipo returns to form once the postseason rolls around, they get that much more dangerous.
