Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro has been one of the most impressive rookies during the 2019 NBA preseason.

Through three games, Herro is averaging 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting better than 50 percent from beyond the arc.

Herro has also shown his ability to create separation as a secondary ball handler, and he made each of his first five field goal attempts in Monday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks:

The former Kentucky star has been so impressive that the Heat have reportedly made him “untouchable” in trade talks, according to a rival GM. Miami also apparently sees some Klay Thompson in his game.

Via Sean Deveney of Heavy:

“They’ve been firm on him and (Bam) Adebayo being untouchable,” one GM told Heavy.com before Herro’s explosive night. “Maybe they would move off of that as the season goes on, but as it stands, they think they’ve got the second coming of Klay Thompson offensively. They have not had a lot of useful guys on rookie contracts in past years and that’s killed their cap. They’ve got two now, they don’t want to let them go.”

Miami drafted Herro with the No. 13 overall pick this summer, and it has not taken long for Miami's front office to become smitten with his talent.

Herro is likely to play a variety of roles for the Heat this season, but his ability to shoot the 3-ball and space the floor is a priority. Herro also played point guard at Kentucky, and it would not be a surprise to see Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra run him at the point with the second team.

One thing is for sure: the Heat believe Tyler Herro can be a franchise cornerstone.
