The Miami Heat are reportedly interested in trading for Donovan Mitchell … but that is only if they fail to get Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets.

According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, as things currently stand, the Heat are still pursuing Durant and have Mitchell as their Plan B if things didn't work out with the Nets.

Per O'Connor: The Heat remain in pursuit of Durant, but Mitchell is considered a fallback option if the Heat are unable to land him.

The Heat have been mentioned as a potential suitor, with a combination of Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and two first-round picks expected to be the starting trade package that Miami could offer.

As for Mitchell, he would probably love a move to Miami since it gives him a great chance to compete for the title. The Heat are well-coached and have an established winning culture, having been strong title contenders in the last couple of years.

However, the Heat are not the only ones interested in Mitchell. The New York Knicks have been linked with Mitchell as well, and the franchise certainly has the assets necessary to make a deal happen.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Mitchell. If anything, he could very well be part of a bigger blockbuster involving Kevin Durant as well.
