The excitement of the 2022 NBA offseason is finally ramping up. At 6:00 p.m. EST Thursday night, stars around the league officially become free agents. This includes JaVale McGee, who is coming off of his one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns. While McGee could be headed elsewhere through free agency this offseason, his teammate Jae Crowder could be moved as part of a Suns' trade.
According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix, the Miami Heat is the top contender to make a deal for Crowder this offseason.
Hearing Javale McGee wants a multi-year deal and has several teams interested – Milwaukee, Dallas, Brooklyn. Not sure if Phoenix would go two years. Miami has emerged as the favorite for Jae Crowder.

And, according to the Suns forward, he's on board. Crowder posted a short-but-telling tweet amid the trade rumors Thursday morning.

This trade makes perfect sense and it would begin Crowder's second stint with the Heat. He was a part of a three-team trade ahead of the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline, moving from the Memphis Grizzlies to Miami. Crowder only spent a few months with the Heat before signing with the Suns in November of 2020.
Now is a great opportunity for Crowder to reunite with his former NBA and Marquette University teammate Jimmy Butler. The Heat forward is expected to be without co-star PJ Tucker in the 2022-2023 season. Tucker declined his player option to become a free agent and is expected to join the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. If Crowder rejoins the team, it could take away some of Butler's despondency regarding Tucker's exit.
