Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is a Swiss army knife, and NBA GM's are taking note of his value. Last year, the NBA GM survey shocked the world when 29 percent of the voters selected Karl-Anthony Towns as the league's best building block. This year, Towns didn't even crack the top six. Antetokounmpo surged to the top, receiving 30 percent of the votes. His versatility and size makes him one of the most unique pieces in the league.
Anthony Davis (23 %), Kevin Durant (20%), LeBron James (17%), Steph Curry (7%) and Joel Emiid (3%) rounded out the top six. LeBron James may be the best basketball player in the world, but he's a little old to be a building block. Giannis Antetokounmpo is a 23-year-old with tons of room for improvement. He hasn't even been playing organized basketball for 10 years, so it's clear he's a natural talent. Last season, Antetokounmpo averaged 26.9 points, 10 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He led his team in points, rebounds and blocks. The Greek product was also ranked the top international player, raking in 73 percent of the votes.
Article Continues BelowAntetokounmpo was a serious MVP candidate at the start of the 2017-18 season. He exploded onto the scene with some impressive all-around performances, but he eventually tapered off. His Bucks only finished seventh in the East, which will rarely get you an MVP nod.
At 6-foot-11, Antetokounmpo can handle the ball, score, defend and distribute. He can guard every position on the floor, which is hard to come by. He is one of the brightest stars the NBA has to offer. NBA GM's will me anxious to see what he added to his game this summer.
