Former Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson says he hopes he and Dwight Howard can sit down one day and ā€œiron some things out.ā€

Howard and Nelson were teammates for years on the Magic. Their relationship, while it's not bad, has soured ever since Howard requested a trade from Orlando and was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer of 2012.

In an interview with Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype, Nelson said blaming Howard for everything that happened with the Magic is the wrong thing to do.

ā€œTo put all of it on Dwight isn’t fair,ā€ Nelson said, via Bryan Kalbrosky of Hoops Hype. ā€œTo say, ā€˜If he would’ve stayed, things would’ve been the same…’ or, ā€˜He’s the reason why everything broke up,’ is not fair because there were other things that transpired as well.

ā€œI’m sure there are certain things [that happened] that we’ll probably never know. But I definitely would like to sit down and talk with him one day. And I’ve always rooted for him; I’ve been on his side and wanted to see him come out on top. But I’m definitely looking forward to that day when I get to sit down and talk with him and iron some things out.ā€

Howard hasn't been the same dominant player since getting traded by the Magic. He's played for the Lakers (twice), Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards since his prime days with Orlando ended.

An eight-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Howard finished his Magic career with averages of 18.4 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 621 games. He probably won't get his jersey retired by Orlando since his exit was adverse.
