Shannon Sharpe talking up LeBron James? Color me surprised.

It's known that Sharpe thinks James is the greatest player to ever play the game, and on Monday, he gave his reasoning as to why James is better than Michael Jordan:

Well, this is … interesting reasoning.

Shannon Sharpe never really has a sound reasoning as for why LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan. He ignores advanced statistics that show Jordan is the superior player, and he ignores the fact that Jordan is 6-0 in the Finals while LeBron has a dubious record of 3-6.

James is unquestionably one of the greatest players to ever step on a basketball court, and his longevity is incredible. He just turned 34 years old and still looks like the best player in the league today.

He has made it to eight straight Finals (although he definitely took advantage of injuries to the Boston Celtics to make it last year) and has put together some of the most impressive performances we have ever seen.

But Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan.

There is a reason why he is widely renowned as the best player in the history of the game.

If Sharpe wants to make arguments about LeBron James, then he should do so when comparing him to players such as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Tim Duncan, who, by the way, may very well be the best player of the post-Jordan era.

Sorry, but the MJ comparisons are beyond old at this point.
