The NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, Illinois, has provided league personnel with more information on almost all of the prospects who are looking to hear commissioner Adam Silver call their name on draft night. Alexandre Sarr, who found himself as the top-rated prospect on ClutchPoints' 2024 NBA Draft Big Board 1.0 ahead of the combine, was one of the most polarizing players scouts and executives wanted to see in person. Outside of Sarr, the two most discussed names heading into the biggest pre-draft evaluation showcase were Bronny James and Zach Edey, for obvious reasons.
Edey, a two-time National Player of the Year at Purdue, is one of the biggest unknowns heading into June's draft. While Edey possesses the size and finishing abilities on the interior to be a serviceable big man, there have been many question marks about his motor and his impact outside of the paint. At the NBA Draft Combine, Edey raised eyebrows with his shooting techniques from the perimeter as well as his effort in the speed and agility testing. Still, there are disagreements between NBA personnel as to whether the 7-foot-4 center will be a sure-thing lottery pick or if he will fall to the end of the first round.
Whereas Edey was a proven product in college who scouts and executives already saw a lot of tape on, James entered the NBA Draft Combine the complete opposite. The question marks revolving around Bronny are due to his underperformance during his freshman season at USC. After suffering cardiac arrest in a preseason workout at USC last summer, Bronny took a massive step in his potential NBA journey when doctors cleared him for full activities in Chicago. Initially thought to go undrafted, the 19-year-old James is looking to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a first-round pick.
A lot has been said about the 2024 NBA Draft being underwhelming and lacking overall talent. These are simply selfish opinions. Sure, there is no Victor Wembanyama or LeBron James in this draft class — a generational talent that would change the landscape of the league for years to come. However, there are several prospects with All-Star potential, and the 2024 NBA Draft class is going to produce many players who will be in the league for at least a decade. It may not be the best draft, but there are plenty of diamonds in the rough out there.
The ping pong balls have decided the lottery portion of the 2024 NBA Draft, and the Hawks are on the clock with a decision that could change the course of their franchise for many years to come. Much will change over the course of the next several weeks, but based on my early evaluations and observations, as well as feedback and opinions from scouts, team executives, and others who were in attendance at the NBA Draft Combine, here is my 2024 NBA Draft Big Board 2.0 and Top 100 rankings, starting with the biggest risers and fallers over the last 10 days.

Draft stock trending up

Out of all 100 players on the 2024 NBA Draft Big Board 2.0, Bronny James ended up being the biggest riser, moving up 30 spots from No. 90 to No. 60 overall. While some have argued that Bronny did not play well at the NBA Draft Combine, the 19-year-old drew the attention of everyone in Wintrust Arena when he took the court. Everyone around the league is polarized by Bronny simply because he checks off the boxes in terms of possessing the intangible traits teams look for in draft prospects.
Bronny is a team player and is certainly a good enough athlete to be in the NBA. The key questions for him revolve around whether or not he can be a consistent shooter, as well as whether he will be able to hold his own defensively. James truly helped himself at the combine by not only taking the floor and playing in the scrimmages while other prospects sat out, but by addressing the media and answering the tough questions about following in his father's footsteps.
“I always try to come out and play with the most effort. I try to play the right way, I play hard. And, I will always play hard, and I feel like that shows up on the defensive end,” James stated. “Yeah, I just try to focus on that and that's what will give me minutes in the long run.”
He also made it clear that playing with LeBron is not a priority, pointing out that he is going to be happy with any of the 30 teams in the league simply because his dream is to play in the NBA. Although Bronny and LeBron would love to play alongside one another, the younger James' focus is only on getting drafted and playing to the best of his abilities for his team.
The biggest admission Bronny made at the combine was saying that he wants to instantly be a dependable role player, much like Derrick White and Davion Mitchell. He cited those two as players he models his game after, as well as longtime guard Jrue Holiday. Teams around the league have taken note of Bronny's demeanor from the NBA Draft Combine. With a slew of teams looking to bring him in for interviews and workouts, it is possible that James could rise from the undrafted ranks to now being a player some teams truly consider selecting at the end of the first round. After all, the idea of luring LeBron late in his career to the same team as Bronny has to be appealing to many teams.
Aside from Bronny, Zach Edey also ended up rising up two spots from No. 30 to No. 28 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft Big Board 2.0 due to his impressive workouts and pro day in Chicago. No matter what, there will always be doubters in Edey's overall abilities. Whether or not he can play and make an impact at the NBA level is yet to be determined. Although it may be a little farfetched to say Edey is a guaranteed lottery pick, it is not as crazy anymore to say that he is a lock to go in the first round of the draft.
There are a few teams looking to upgrade their talent in the frontcourt, and Edey's shooting ability he displayed at the combine definitely raised some eyebrows. A realistic range for Edey is anywhere from No. 20 overall to No. 30 overall in the draft. Teams like the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns could all be possible landing spots for this draft's giant. As long as he continues to work on his perimeter game and overall conditioning, Edey will become more appealing to teams with first-round picks.
French prospect Tidjane Salaun is the only new face in the top 10 of the 2024 NBA Draft Big Board 2.0. Salaun is currently in the midst of the French playoffs and is looking every bit like a sure-thing lottery pick. He has the ability to shoot from the perimeter with confidence, as well as put the ball on the ground in order to score at the rim. He is confident, agile, and crafty with the ball in his hands on offense, which is why Salaun is going to be a very unique name to watch.
Other names who have moved up the draft board include Baylor Scheierman (No. 43 to No. 29), Ajay Mitchell (No. 36 to No. 30), KJ Simpson (No. 41 to No. 36), AJ Johnson (No. 59 to No. 51), and Trentyn Flowers (No. 76 to No. 63). Scheierman was one of the biggest winners at the NBA Draft Combine and is now projected to be a first-round pick in June.
Draft stock trending down
Of course, since there are risers on the big board, there are also those whose stock is falling ahead of the NBA Draft. Stephon Castle and Nikola Topic both found themselves dropping a couple of spots inside the top 10, and Cody Williams fell out of the top 10 due to some concerns about his overall impact. Topic suffered a knee injury in his team's championship series overseas, but the good news is he avoided a serious injury.
Ryan Dunn from Virginia did not shoot the ball well at the NBA Draft Combine, resulting in him falling out of the top 30. Terrence Shannon Jr. dropped seven spots from No. 34 to No. 41 overall due to his sexual assault trial being set for June.
Jalen Bridges, Jamir Watkins, and Tristan Newton are a few second-round prospects who have also fallen on the Big Board as a result of some underwhelming combine performances.
With just about five weeks until the 2024 NBA Draft, here is what my full big board and top 100 rankings look like.
