Basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill recently went on CNN's “Citizen by CNN” program, and the 46-year-old did not hold back when asked about his thoughts on U.S. President Donald Trump's recent comments pertaining to the terrible and dangerous conditions in Baltimore — a city that is predominantly African American.

Hill, who himself traces his roots from Baltimore, described the President's tirade as simply “unconscionable.”

“It's unconscionable to think that, you know the President of the United States would, you know, say that about a segment of the population,” said Hill, whose father grew up in Baltimore, via CNN's Paul LeBlanc. “I have great memories and fond memories of my time in Baltimore and my grandparents and spending summers there.”

Hill went on to say that while he acknowledged the fact that Baltimore is far from a perfect city, he believes that it is unfair to make such a sweeping generalization.

“Obviously, Baltimore has gone through some challenges and some struggles like most cities have in recent years but you know, the people there are good people,” Hill added.

Hill was born in Dallas, Texas, but was raised in the suburbs of Virginia, just outside Washington D.C. Nevertheless, Baltimore still holds a special place in his heart, and he simply could not let these hurtful comments pass without saying something.

At this point we are no longer surprised by President Trump's candidness. This is not the first time he has earned the ire of NBA players — both current and retired — and surely, this is not going to be the last.
