The United States has once again been rocked by a tragic mass shooting, with the latest incident occurring in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday. The NBA is in mourning with the rest of the nation, and some players have taken to Twitter to share their grief.
The shooting took place during a Madden 2019 tournament. One of the participants brought a handgun to the event and opened fire after losing, killing two people and wounding nine others. Two other people suffered injuries fleeing the scene. One of the wounded is a member of the Milwaukee Bucks' NBA 2K team.
The shooter then turned the gun to himself and took his own life even before police could arrive on the scene.
Karl-Anthony Towns was one of the first to respond to the events.
Praying for everyone involved in the shooting at the Madden tournament in Jacksonville 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I can’t believe we have to keep living with tragic violence like this with presumably no solution in sight.
