There continues to be NBA trade rumors about Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis. The Detroit Pistons, along with the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors are expected to be Davis trade suitors, per ESPN.
“The Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets for Davis, center Daniel Gafford and guards Klay Thompson and D'Angelo Russell, sources said,” ESPN's Shams Charania wrote.
Davis has been bothered by injuries this season. The big man is averaging 19.6 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field this campaign. He has played in just 10 games for Dallas this year.
The Pistons have long been linked to Davis as a potential trade destination, which was first reported by Kendrick Perkins.
Davis is averaging a double-double this season, with a 10.2 rebounds per game average. He poured in 29 points in his last outing, a win for the Mavericks over the Houston Rockets. Davis shot a scorching 74 percent from the field in that game.
Anthony Davis is getting tons of trade interest
Davis hasn't had smooth sailing since he was dealt to the Mavericks from the Los Angeles Lakers, for Luka Doncic last season. Mavericks fans weren't happy with the trade, and Davis has struggled with injuries.
There are plenty of teams though who feel Davis can help them.
“The Pistons (19-5), Raptors (15-10) and Hawks (14-11) represent high-level threats in their conference and are having seasons that give hope that a player like Davis — a 10-time All-Star who has spent his entire career in the Western Conference — can elevate them into a viable championship-quality team,” Charania added.
It's isn't clear if Davis will move, though. His agents are in close contact with Dallas about the player's role with the team moving forward.
“(Dallas management Michael) Finley and (Matt) Riccardi accepted the message and stated the franchise wants to keep its options open and view how the team plays for the next few weeks. They have not ruled out the possibility of an extension,” Charania said.
The Mavericks are 9-16 this season.
