The Toronto Raptors have been celebrating their NBA championship for nearly two weeks now, and while the feeling of being the champion hasn’t worn away, there are some decisions to make. Speaking to media on Tuesday, Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri said the team hadn’t decided if they’d go to the White House if invited.
Ujiri says Raptors will collectively make a decision if invited to the White House. "I think everybody knows what my decision would be." Says Canadian parliament would be a priority.

According to The Athletic’s Blake Murphy, Ujiri said that the team would make that decision as it comes. While noting that “everybody knows” what his decision would be, Ujiri did say that visiting the Canadian parliament would be the priority of the team. Visiting parliament would make sense for the team, as they are based in Canada, and the victory was a huge one for the country.

However, should the Raptors visit the White House, they will be the first team to visit since the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, when they defeated the Golden State Warriors and visited Barack Obama during his final year as President.
Famously, the Golden State Warriors have denied going to the White House to visit President Trump after their last two titles, and many teams haven’t gone as well. Whether or not the Raptors choose to go remains to be seen, but it seems likely that they will continue the trend of not visiting. Thankfully for them, they still have another option to visit, in the form of the Canadian parliament.
