To say New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose has experience playing under head coach Tom Thibodeau is an understatement. This is the third team they have been in together, as they have had stints with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Currently, Rose has seen development in Thibodeau, per Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

“It shows that he’s improved as a coach. He’s already a great coach, but every year he’s improving and adjusting,” Rose remarked. “That’s the big difference that I see with him this year. He’s giving guys more freedom to go out there and play the way they want. He’s being positive on the court.”

For the longest time, Thibodeau has been exacting and passionate as a coach. After his time with the Timberwolves had come to an end, he spent some time away from the league and took notes of how other teams conducted practices before taking the Knicks job.

The Golden State Warriors and head coach Steve Kerr were one of these teams. Their culture and approach to practices were vastly different from Thibodeau's. Golden State had a more open and less controlling environment and this was Thibodeau's main takeaway.

Speaking of improvement, that is exactly what Thibodeau brought to New York. Even the most optimistic Knicks fans probably did not expect their beloved team to be fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 33-27 record. This is made all the more impressive considering the roster from last year is relatively the same with Rose as one of the additions.
