New York Knicks center Enes Kanter has shed some light on the confusion that was brought about by the cryptic tweet he posted prior to making his decision to opt into the final year of his deal with the Knicks. The 26-year-old claims that it was nothing more than a purposeful prank that was born out of boredom.

For a little backstory, while people were anxiously waiting on whether Kanter would decide to stay or leave New York this offseason, the 6-foot-11 big man posted a deer emoji on his social media account. The post went viral, as many believed that this was an indication of Kanter's decision to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Speaking to ESPN's Royce Young, Kanter explained how the idea came to him on one uneventful evening.

“The night before I went to my friend's house, I ate dinner and I was coming back to my house in an Uber and I was so bored,” he said. “So I posted the deer emoji, and five minutes later I deleted it. On purpose. So everybody was talking about it. I was like, ‘This is going viral, this is crazy.'”

When asked if he was purposely trying to dupe the media, Kanter was at least honest about his intentions.

“You gotta mess with the media a little,” Kanter claimed. “Because I know I was not going to go to the Milwaukee Bucks. It's the Milwaukee Bucks. Unless they give you good, good money, then go, but you don't leave New York for Milwaukee.”

The NBA's resident troll just could not pass up an opportunity to roast yet another NBA team. As he made it abundantly clear, he does not think very highly about the Bucks. This only makes his practical joke even more hilarious — in his eyes at least.
