New York Knicks rookies RJ Barrett and Ignas Brazdeikis are pumped off for next season, as they believe that the team will be a lot better than what most people think.

The Knicks were spurned by their top free agent targets Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who both decided to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. Having a massive amount of cap space but with no superstar on the books, New York decided to sign mid-tier players to short deals. Fans were disappointed, but in reality, the team had no choice.

In an interview with SNYTV's Ian Begley, Brezdeikis said the Knicks have a great roster, adding that everyone on the team will be willing to do everything to win.

“I think we got a great team. I think we all have that same mentality that we just want to win and make New York proud. I think we'll be great. We'll work together really well.”

Brazdeikis started to make a name for himself in Summer League when he scored 30 points against the Phoenix Suns. He's expected to get a significant amount of minutes, especially since the Knicks will be focusing on the development of the young guys on the team.

Meanwhile, Barrett is thrilled with the prospect of playing with some of the league's young veterans.

“It's going to be great. I need that — just trying to learn the game as quickly as possible.”

Unlike Brazdeikis, a lot of people are expecting Barrett to be really good, as he's already being dubbed as the future of the franchise. The 19-year-old forward is confident in what he can do, but more importantly, he's encouraged by the team that the Knicks have assembled, and he feels that people who are sleeping on them will soon realize that they have made a mistake.
