RJ Barrett on New York: ‘This is the place I want to be’

Projected lottery pick R.J. Barrett stated that he wants to play for the Knicks after going through a predraft workout in New York.

The New York Knicks may have missed out on the opportunity to draft Duke's Zion Williamson by landing the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft, but the will still likely have the chance to draft his teammate, RJ Barrett.

The general consensus is that the Knicks will end up taking Barrett at No. 3, as Williamson is expecting to go to the New Orleans Pelicans with the top pick and the Memphis Grizzlies are widely expected to draft Murray State point guard Ja Morant at No. 2.

Barrett is welcoming the opportunity, saying he wants to play for New York:

So, even though the Knicks won't have the chance to draft Williamson, they might end up being just fine if they go with Barrett.
New York is coming off of a disastrous 2018-19 campaign in which it won just 17 games, equaling its lowest win output in franchise history. The Knicks have missed the playoffs six years in a row.
