The New York Knicks have the ninth pick in the NBA Draft this summer, and they are trying to figure out what to do with it.
This draft is said to be pretty deep, so presumably the Knicks can end up with a very good player at their position. However, many of the best players are guards — some point guards — and per Ian Begley of ESPN on his Facebook page, the Knicks may not be looking for those types of players.

And we haven't been able to make that determination yet.” Privately, some members of the front office have been mentioning the same thing regarding the idea of taking a point guard, essentially saying that it wouldn't make sense to select a PG given the current roster. This would seem to be another sign that the organization is confident in 2017 first-round pick Frank Ntilikina. Again, it's worth noting that this opinion may not be uniform throughout the Knicks' front office.
The points guards the Knicks currently have on the roster are: Ntilikina, Trey Burke, Emmanuel Mudiay and Jarrett Jack. Two young guys, and two older guys. The Knicks must really believe in Ntilikina and Mudiay if they are going to not even think about taking a point guard in the draft should one materialize at No. 9.
The general wisdom is you get the best available player in the draft. Many teams have made suspect picks in the past, and they either work out or don't. It's a crap shoot.
With New York, the hope is they know what they are doing. Time will tell.
