With the search for the New York Knicks' next team president, one man that has been identified as a frontrunner to land the vacancy is Masai Ujiri of the Toronto Raptors. However, according to a recent report by team insider Ian Begley, it appears that the Knicks brass might be unwilling to match the steep price they will need to pay in order to bring Ujiri on board.
On Knicks presidency search, people around James Dolan continue to have strong concerns about compensation package it might take to land Masai Ujiri, there’s serious pessimism about Knicks’ pursuit of him at the moment, per SNY sources. NYK continues to guage interest of agents.

The Knicks have been in shambles of late, with no clear direction for the organization moving forward. It seems that at this point, it would take nothing less than a Hail Mary move to turn things around for the franchise. The potential hiring of Ujiri fits the bill.

Ujiri, 49, remains to be one of the biggest and most coveted names in the front office market at the moment. He was the architect behind Toronto's historic championship run last season, and despite taking heavy criticism for pragmatically trading away DeMar DeRozan in during the preceding offseason, Ujiri proved all his doubters wrong when his Raptors lifted the championship trophy by the end of the campaign.
Knicks owner James Dolan is obviously a huge fan of Ujiri and he must believe that he is the right man to captain their sinking ship. New York remains to be one of the richest franchises in the league, and Dolan has some deep pockets, so money-wise, this is definitely something they can pull the trigger on. This is the type of move that could just salvage Dolan's tarnished reputation not only with the Knicks faithful, but with the rest of the league as well.
