Los Angeles Clippers small forward Paul George will return to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder on March 3, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

George played two seasons for the Thunder. He requested a trade this summer to the Clippers so he could play with two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard back home in Los Angeles.

When Paul George re-signed with the Thunder last offseason on a four-year deal worth $136.9 million, the prevailing thought was the All-Star swingman would play out that contract in OKC. After the Thunder, though, lost in the first round of the 2019 playoffs to Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers, both George and former MVP Russell Westbrook privately made up their minds it was time to embark on a new challenge elsewhere.

Kawhi Leonard recruited George to the Clippers. Both superstars are from California. For the first time in franchise history, the Clippers are title contenders with Kawhi and PG leading the charge.

It will be interesting to see the reception George gets from the OKC fans. We know Westbrook is going to get a long standing ovation when he returns. There might be some boo birds for PG since he requested a trade.

George averaged 25.0 points in 156 regular-season games with the Thunder.
