Russell Westbrook couldn't have asked for much more from the person that introduced him into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Thursday night.

Russ got Michael Jordan to do it and MJ had some kind words to say about Westbrook.

Jordan has said things like this about Westbrook before. MJ, and also Kobe Bryant for that matter, say that Westbrook is the player today most like them – in terms of drive and competitiveness.

Westbrook has yet to reach the level of either MJ or Kobe in terms of accomplishments and rings, but now with the Thunder officially his team, maybe he will get closer.

Russ declined when asked to compare himself to Jordan.

“Michael's obviously the best that ever played the game,” Westbrook said. “He's done so many things for the game of basketball, so many ways and broken so many barriers for guys like myself to be able to go out and compete at a high level, so it means a lot in that aspect. Off the court, he's carried a great brand. It's something I eventually want to do when I'm done.”

Westbrook has a deal with Jordan Brand which is another way he and MJ have a connection.

Last night was also ironic in one way. A year ago, Westbrook was the one to introduce Kevin Durant when he was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. How long ago that now feels?
