The Oklahoma City Thunder recently shed $27.9 million's worth of Carmelo Anthony's salary by trading him to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, but their impending bill is one that would terrify most NBA front offices.

OKC still boasts $148.7 million in combined salaries with their roster still at 14 players, but they are bound to pay an added $88.8 million in repeater luxury taxes, according to cap enthusiast Albert Nahmad, putting them at a whopping $237.5 million total for the 2018-19 season — by far the highest payroll in the league.

The Thunder have Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Steven Adams in max contracts, in what is the highest-paid team to see itself out in the first round of the playoffs.

Oklahoma City will be taking in $15.5 million during the next three years for Dennis Schroder, who they acquired from the Hawks — but at least it's an asset they can plug willingly in the bench to serve as their spark plug.

The Thunder have allocated $90.07 million of their $148.7 million payroll to their top three players (61 percent), while $115.57 million is being spent in their top five players (includes Schroder and re-signed guard/forward Andre Roberson) — good for a whopping 78 percent.

This team will have to start showing results to justify such a high expense coming into this, and likely future seasons — as the franchise is bound to stay relatively quiet during next year's spending galore during the 2019 NBA offseason — one they have axed themselves out of with all their long-term commitments.
