Last night marked another season highlight for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In their victory over the Charlotte Hornets, the Thunder pulled an impressive feat related to rebounding, as noted by OKC beat writer Fred Katz:

Katz added that the Thunder lead the league in offensive rebound percentage with a 27 percent mark. According to ESPN Statistics, the Thunder are first in that category with at 27.1 percent, followed by the Denver Nuggets with a 26.5 percent mark.

In their win over the Hornets, the Thunder caught 19 offensive rebounds. They did it against tough competition too, as Dwight Howard averages over 12 rebounds a game and is still one of the league's best in that regard. Howard grabbed 17 rebounds himself. According to Basketball-Reference, those 19 offensive rebounds are the second-highest mark for them this season. Their top offensive rebounding game was a Nov. 29 loss to the Orlando Magic, in which they pulled 21 offensive boards.

As you would expect, OKC leads the league in total offensive rebounds (514) and offensive rebounds per game (12.0). This has led to them scoring 14.4 second-chance points per game, second in the league behind the Nuggets' 14.7, according to NBA Stats. As you can see, offensive rebounding and second-chance scoring are highly correlated.

A big reason why OKC is so dominant on the offensive glass is center Steven Adams. Out of his 8.6 total rebounds, 3.7 are on the offensive end. Adams is second in the league in total offensive boards with 187, just seven behind leader Andre Drummond. Last night's game also marked the 10th time Adams grabbed seven or more offensive rebounds in a game this season. Russell Westbrook also helps the team in this category, catching 1.8 offensive boards per game.
