In his MVP year two season ago, Oklahoma City Thunder standout Russell Westbrook was able to amazingly set the record for the most triple-doubles in a single season with a total of 42. This coming campaign, Westbrook can smash yet another record which is currently held by Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

In 10 seasons with the Thunder, Westbrook has amassed a career total of 104 triple-doubles. As explained by Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo! Sports, the 6-foot-3 guard can possibly overtake Magic Johnson's 138 career triple-doubles by the end of this season.

Currently, Westbrook's 104 triple-doubles ranks at fourth all-time. He is just three behind Jason Kidd's 107 (a record Westbrook will surely overtake this term), and 34 behind Johnson who currently sits at second place. At the pinnacle of the all-time triple-doubles leaderboard is no other than the great Oscar Robertson who has an astounding 181 career triple-doubles.

While Westbrook is set to absolutely crush Kidd's record this season (maybe even in the opening month of the campaign), reaching Magic's tally may prove to be a challenge. With a new-look Thunder side from the last term, Westbrook was only able to record 25 triple-doubles, which is nine short of what he needs to overtake Johnson, and 17 less than his output in the 2016-17 season.

Nonetheless, Westbrook is just 29 years of age and still has a lot of basketball in front of him. If he is unable to overtake Magic's mark this year, then surely, he can do so in the succeeding season. He also only needs 77 more to match Robertson's record, so it is not improbable for Westbrook to be the number one all-time once it is all said and done.
