The incessant rumors of Paul George leaving this upcoming summer have floated from the moment the 6-foot-9 forward touched down in Oklahoma City.

The All-Star was said to be merely a rental player by his very own inner circle, as the Indiana Pacers refused to trade him to the Los Angeles Lakers, ultimately agreeing to terms with the Thunder, where he's enjoyed a mixed bag of winning and losing upon being plugged into this equation.

While the Lakers are still expected to come calling during free agency, rumors of George potentially looking to be the go-to player, whether it is in OKC or in L.A.

Those rumors were put down immediately by Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, who noted George wants to win more than anything else at this point of his career.

“PG has coveted playing with other elite talents,” said Kyler. “So the idea of him wanting to be the singular point person again is overstated. He wants to win first and foremost.”

George is paired up with Russell Westbrook, who has proved undoubtedly to be the go-to scorer down the stretch.

The Palmdale native has seen a massive dip in his scoring this month, averaging a mere 18 points per game, as he has failed to shoot over 50 percent from the floor for the last 17 games of this season.

George has shined without Westbrook and without Anthony, proving he can still be a reliable No. 1 option, but now that his 3-point shooting has flamed out (27.7 percent in March), it begs to wonder if he needs the consistency of having the burden squarely on his shoulders to be the most effective version of himself.
