Despite being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the assumption has remained that All-Star forward Paul George will head to the Los Angeles Lakers next offseason.
However, Royce Young of ESPN is reporting that George has continued to key in on winning being the ultimate deciding factor when making his decision in free agency.
George is “really excited” to join the Thunder and Westbrook, according to the source, and views this season as an open-ended opportunity. Because when it comes down to whatever George decides next summer, the source said, “Winning is his top priority.”

The 27-year-old had reiterated that in an interview with Lee Jenkins of SI.com stating that he would be interested in staying with the Thunder if the team were to reach the Western Conference Finals or possibly upend the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs.
There is a strong desire to join the Lakers, but if the team doesn't make any significant progress next season it could put them out of contention for his services. George wants to go to a team on the rise that could become something special in the near future.
George's decision may hinge on how next season unfolds for the Thunder.
