Ben Simmons is undoubtedly one of the best rookies in the NBA. After missing all of the 2016-2017 NBA season with a broken foot, Simmons has evolved into a do-it-all player that has helped the 76ers achieve substantial success this season. Simmons is known for being an exemplary point forward, and has already been compared to LeBron James due to the likeness in their size and play styles.
Currently, Simmons is the Sixers' point guard and he's been running the offense well next to Joel Embiid. This year, Simmons has also drew comparisons to Lakers legend Magic Johnson, whom also revolutionized the NBA with his peculiar versatile game. On Wednesday against the Miami Heat, Simmons scored 18 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds. This is his sixth triple double of his rookie season, which has also been matched by Magic Johnson in 1980.

Simmons' work does not appear to be done yet. The Sixers have a 30-25 record which ranks them seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Losing focus for even one game can toss the Sixers out of postseason contention. Therefore, Simmons will have to follow up with this brilliant performance in his next game if his team is going to build any momentum. In any case, Simmons has matured into an NBA ready contributor in his first season. If the 76ers do make the postseason, Simmons will be a problem for opposing teams. Although he is a rookie, there is no denying that the 6'10 point forward is special. In fact, he may be just what the Sixers need to build a winning culture in Philadelphia in route to a championship somewhere down the line.
