Phoenix Suns beat reporter Gina Mizell has revealed that rookie center Deandre Ayton is under the weather and missed Sunday's practice as a result:

Also included in the report are updates on forward T.J. Warren, who is dealing with a right ankle injury, and guard Devin Booker, who has a nagging hamstring injury.

As expected, the Suns have struggled this season as they look to grow as a team with plenty of talented young players. One of the players they have a close eye on is Ayton, the No. 1 pick of the 2018 draft.

Coming out of the University of Arizona, Ayton was regarded as a franchise-changing big man. Standing at 7-foot-1, Ayton fit the role of a stretch 5, showing the ability to knock down the occasional jumper in college.

Ayton's true strength is getting to the basket and using his size to finish at the rim. He has become Devin Booker's prime pick-and-roll partner when both are healthy, and this combo could develop to be absolutely deadly.

So far, Ayton has posted impressive numbers in his rookie year. He is currently averaging 15.8 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting a tick below 60 percent from the field. If the season ended today, he would be one of the top vote-getters for Rookie of the Year.

Phoenix might not be playing good basketball right now, but the young core has potential. With Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker at the helm, the Suns could be a scary team in a few years once the two develop even further.
