After the recent news broke that Adam Silver signed a contract extension through the 2023-24 season, at least one NBA player is extending his well wishes to the league's commissioner. C.J. McCollum responded to the news by telling Silver to secure his bag in an emoji-laden tweet.

No one is going to knock an NBA player when they sign a big contract, so why should anyone treat the league commissioner any differently? McCollum knows this. He also knows that Silver is good for the league and therefore, he's good for McCollum's bottom line. Ultimately, players want the league to grow because that will lead to higher salaries down the road. Silver is the right guy to have at the helm.

No doubt, more NBA players, fans, coaches, and executives will come out to congratulate Silver on his contract extension, but McCollum may have been the first to do so publicly.
The Blazers guard has a strong presence on social media, often commenting on the biggest stories around the league. In addition to his Twitter, McCollum has his own podcast called “Pull Up” that he hosts with Yahoo Sports Insider, Jordan Schultz. McCollum is one of the guys in the league that fans can always count on for a candid opinion on all things NBA-related.
Maybe he'll have Silver on as a guest to discuss exactly how he secured his bag and how he's going to spend his next six years in charge.
