It's been a great couple of days for Carmelo Anthony. He's been an impact player for the Portland Trail Blazers, helping the team get some much-needed wins to get out of the terrible rut they found themselves at the start of the NBA season.
Blazers fans have openly accepted Melo into their lives as the rest of the league rejoice in his return to basketball. He has repaid the faith the Blazers organization placed upon him by putting on one of the best shooting performances he's had in recent memory.
He talked with Sean Highkin and other members of the press after the Blazers crushed the Oklahoma City Thunder, 119-136. He talked about the warm reception he got at the Rose Garden and how he felt about his first couple of weeks as a Blazer.

After burning out with the Thunder and the Houston Rockets, it was easy for Melo to feel discouraged and disenfranchised by the entire process. However, he kept fighting as he strived to find a team that would make use of his specific skill set.

Carmelo has been balling for the Blazers so far this season. He's averaging a superb 16.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists on 45% shooting through five games. The fact that he's performing this well in spite of his unfamiliarity with the Blazers system speaks volumes about his effectiveness as a third option on the right team.
Fans hope that Melo can thrive with the Blazers and get the send-off he deserves. It's the least the league can do after providing them years of entertainment with his scoring.
