Damian Lillard was cooking again for the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, logging a game-high 51 points (on 17 of 29 from the field and 8-of-8 from the line), nine 3-pointers, two rebounds, 12 assists, and a steal as he led his team to an impressive 124-107 victory against the Utah Jazz.
Lillard was red hot all game long, and at one point in the contest, even Blazers backcourt partner CJ McCollum could not help but join in on the “MVP” chants from the adoring home crowd. Lillard came across the clip as it made its rounds on social media, and the 6-foot-2 point guard just had to send out his appreciation to McCollum:
Real potna. @CJMcCollum I love you brother… 4L https://t.co/9PIoiBfax7

For his part, McCollum responded to Lillard's show of gratitude by sending back some love. This is one of the best bromance moments we've had this entire season:

I love you too bruh 🤝 https://t.co/hChuiZanSw

Lillard has been on an absolute tear of late, and while it has been common practice for some fans to commence the “MVP” chants whenever one of their players is having a good game, the Blazers point guard's case has been quite different. The 29-year-old has been scorching hot over the past couple of weeks and has been on a mind-boggling scoring spree.
Over the last six games, Lillard has averaged 48.8 points (on 54.8 percent shooting), 7.2 rebounds, 10.2 assists, and 1.2 steals while also connecting on 8.2 triples per ballgame on a 57.0 percent clip. There are no typographical errors there (we double checked), and you're reading that absolutely right. The Blazers star very well could be getting himself into the MVP race with this ridiculous scoring binge.
Lillard's scoring binge has the Blazers on a four-game losing streak, getting them right back into the thick of the playoff race after a tough start to the season. Portland is now 23-27 and just 1.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.
