If you were tuned in to Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals duel between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets, you might have noticed that head coach Terry Stotts was wearing a red bow tie. It was a rather unusual look. But after the game, he explained the noble reason on why he wore one.
Per Ben Golliver of the Washington Post, Stotts revealed that the Blazers' video coordinator Jon Yim was recently in a serious car accident wherein he suffered a broken leg and a collapsed lung and is still in the hospital. Every Wednesday, Yim wore bow ties and it was just right that they won Game 2.
“He was in a serious accident. On Wednesdays, he wore bow ties. I think the bow ties are undefeated this year.”

However, it was not just Stotts who sported the look. The rest of the coaching staff, too, pulled out their bow ties out of their drawers to honor Yim.

Perhaps the best thing about it all was that the Blazers got the win and have tied the series at 1-1. It's unsure whether Jim was able to tune in the to game. But it's safe to assume that he's more than happy with the results.
