Since entering the league in 2013, C.J. McCollum has helped the Portland Trail Blazers reach the playoffs in three consecutive seasons including two trips to the Western Conference Semifinals. However, he believes they're still lacking something to make it over the hump and be a top contender.

The 25-year-old Lehigh product recently shared what he thinks the Blazers' mentality on defense should be in order for them to further improve as a unit. He also discussed how the team should play offense and what exactly they have to do on it.

“We need to play like somebody took our lunch money, like somebody disrespected your mother. I think that’s the type of anger you need have and the aggression you need to have on the court. That doesn’t mean making mad faces or mean faces but it means attacking the glass, strongly attacking the rim when you have the ball on offense. If somebody is about to get a layup, commit that foul and make sure they don’t get the ball up.”

McCollum is having another solid start this campaign with averages of 22.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game and continues to prove that he compliments his All-Star teammate, Damian Lillard, well.

Should his thoughts serve as an eye-opener to the Blazers, it will certainly help them reach even greater success. With their competitive lineup and last year's lessons under their belt now, it will not be entirely impossible for them to be in the same conversation when best teams in the league are discussed and become one of the NBA's teams of the future.
