It has often been the case over the years that NBA players enter the league without a plan in place for once their playing days are finished.
In light of that, Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum recently revealed via Instagram that he is taking some major steps toward stabilizing his post-NBA life by enrolling at Harvard Business School for a summer course.

It is well noted that McCollum takes education quite seriously as he had graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism by the age of 21 at Lehigh University before taking his talents to the NBA. That alone shouldn't make his decision to return to school shocking given the educational backcourt that he has already acquired.
He put some of that to use this past season by being a part-time sideline reporter for the NBA during All-Star Weekend. Prior to that, he had written articles for various websites pertaining to the NBA. The decision to put forth the effort to take summer classes shows that he is thinking about his long-term future beyond the NBA.
It's a quality that not many players try to duplicate that typically results in them having much uncertainty about what lies next for them once their playing days are finished. That said, more players are starting to plan ahead to avoid that potential problem down the road.
All in all, McCollum has adopted the right approach with his best interest in stabilizing his future beyond his remaining NBA career.
