Kevin Durant took part on C.J. McCollum's Pull Up podcast, discussing many subjects from vacation spots to politics — though it wouldn't take long before McCollum expressed his frustration with Durant joining the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
The Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard went on about how the Warriors have been able to stonewall the league after acquiring Durant, before bringing up his own potential chances at an NBA title.
Durant cut those dreams short without hesitation.
Article Continues Below“You know you guys aren't going to win a championship,” said Kevin Durant ruthlessly before C.J. McCollum argued that the Blazers “have the team.. have the capabilities” and that “anything is possible,” drawing laughter from the two-time Finals MVP.
The Blazers have yet to get out of the second round of the playoffs since 2000 and they've been mercilessly bounced out of two of the last three postseasons at the hands of the Warriors, going only 1-8 against them since 2015-16.
Portland was easily swept during the 2016-17 season, as Draymond Green and company put on a defensive clinic against the Blazers' high-scoring backcourt, and for what is worth — their additions (or lack thereof) during this summer do little to suggest this narrative can change anytime soon — especially after getting swept in the first round by a lower-seeded New Orleans Pelicans this past postseason.
