While the intended effect of confusing reporters and fans about what's going on with the Knicks' coaching search did indeed occur, Jackson probably wasn't expecting to receive a job request from one of his former players.

Samaki Walker, who played under Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2001 to 2003, tweeted back at the Zen Master, asking for his consideration for a player development role. Walker cited his experience with the Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs, two of the most successful organizations in the NBA over the last 20 years (of course, not so much the Lakers lately).

Jackson is yet to respond to Walker, at least publicly on Twitter. It would be pretty great if this actually turned into something for the former power forward.

If you don't remember Samaki from his playing days, you might remember that he was in the news a few months ago, claiming that Kobe Bryant once sucker punched him over a gambling debt.

I hope he learned that you just don't mess with the Black Mamba.
