Despite coming off an emphatic win in Game 6 of their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, Gregg Popovich is not getting a big head after the victory.
The San Antonio Spurs head coach gave the Rockets a lot of credit for having a great season, but then turned his attention back to his squad, when he said they were not as good as they looked in their 39-point victory. He added that many still expected them to play better than how they did on the night.
Pop: "I want to congratulate the Rockets on a great season. We're not as good as we looked. They were not the tm people are used to seeing."

Popovich is known to be a perfectionist and will not settle from anything less from his players. Even without two of their starters, Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker, the Spurs still dominated the match behind a great game from LaMarcus Aldridge, who finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds. They also got solid contributions from five others who also had double-digit scoring outputs.
The five-time champion coach hopes his comments will fire up the Spurs even more as they will have a tough matchup against the top-seeded team in the West, the Golden State Warriors, in the conference finals. He understands that they will need to be at their best to come out on top, and give them the opportunity to compete for the title.
