Veteran guard Tony Parker recently took another step forward in his recovery from a surgically-repaired torn quadriceps tendon as he was sent down for a rehab assignment with the San Antonio Spurs G League affiliate, Austin Spurs.

According to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, the Spurs have made the move on Wednesday afternoon to recall the 35-year-old back to the roster.

Although Parker didn't play a single game in Austin, it did provide him an opportunity to work with the team in a practice setting. It is also another indication that he's on the right track to make his return at some point later this month.

Parker is still well-ahead of the original timetable that had him scheduled to make his return at some point in December from the injury that he suffered during the Western Conference semifinals against the Houston Rockets. He is now in his 17th season in the league, entering the final year of his three-year, $43.3 million deal, which will pay him $15.4 million in 2017-18.

San Antonio has remained quite cautious with the process due to the significance of the injury and his age in order to avoid any setbacks. There should likely more clarity provided in the coming weeks concerning when he will return to the court.
