According to Fred Katz of The Norman Transcript, Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Carmelo Anthony was very upfront when asked about his team's 23-point collapse in a 104-101 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
Anthony, who led the Thunder in scoring with 20 points (9-of-17 from the floor) on the night, opened up about the loss to the media on Sunday.
Article Continues Below“Now we’re just playing too unselfish, too timid, we’re thinking too much,” Anthony said. “Russ, PG, myself, we have to do a better job of being selfish in a way of playing our game and being aggressive on the basketball court.”
He also added that him, as well as Thunder stars Russell Westbrook and Paul George, need to be consistent throughout the game and be more instinctive.
“We play off of instincts. We’re very instinctive players. Now we’re not playing like that. When we’re playing like that in the first two quarters, we’re up 20 to 25,” Anthony said.
Before their showdown with superstar forward Kevin Durant and the defending champion Golden State Warriors at home on Wednesday, the Thunder will travel to take on the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center on Monday night. The contest, which will tip off shortly after 7:00 p.m. CT, will be broadcast live locally on Fox Sports Oklahoma.
