The Oklahoma City Thunder saw their season come to a disappointing end with a first-round playoff exit after falling in six games to the Utah Jazz. This has immediately brought into perspective the future of the franchise with both forwards Carmelo Anthony and Paul George having the ability to hit the free-agent market this upcoming summer.

A major part of this discussion will surround the chemistry that the trio has built over this past season that should play a factor in the decision-making process. According to Royce Young of ESPN, there was never any issues with the team in this regard at any point this past season.

All season, they desperately tried to stay together and stay positive. Sources within the team were adamant throughout the season that chemistry was never an issue. Veterans marveled at the connectivity of the group. Everyone was aligned, everyone wanted the same thing. Even as players adjusted to new roles and responsibilities, some having a harder time than others, the buy-in was total.

Heading into the 2017-18 season, there was some potential concern that these players could butt heads due to each of their individual playing style on the floor. Through much of their respective careers, each has found much individual success playing more of isolation-type basketball offensively.

The decision to bring them together forced them to learn how to play alongside each other, which had some bumps along the way. There were moments where they looked like a potent offensive team with Westbrook being the leading attack while George assumed the second spot and Anthony falling to the third option. Early on, Anthony struggled to play in that role but he had some encouraging moments of play operating offensively in more of catch-and-shoot situations at any point in his career.

With all that in mind, it doesn't appear that chemistry should deter either Anthony or George returning to Oklahoma City for at least another season if they decide to do so.
