The Oklahoma City Thunder just annihilated the Golden State Warriors on their home court with a 125-105 beating Tuesday night. But what might be more embarrassing than the Warriors’ home loss is one erroneous call by the referees late in the third quarter.

The Warriors’ Kevin Durant was called for a tripping foul on the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook but the replay monitors showed that he tripped over his own foot.

At the 1:38 mark of the third quarter and the Thunder leading the Warriors 95-73, Westbrook drove to his left at full speed. But as he was about to take off for what was expected to be another thunderous slam, Westbrook fell to the floor after his right foot lost traction and his left foot grazed the other heel.

Upon seeing the play one more time, the Oracle Arena crowd booed the referees mercilessly for the brutally-erroneous call.

To make matters worse, the call was deemed a shooting foul, giving Westbrook two free throws, which he nailed, to push their lead up to 24.

Westbrook was on fire from the start, knocking down nine of his first 10 shots from the field en route to 21 points in the first quarter. The entire Thunder team followed their leader to the tune of 42 points in the opening 12 minutes to the Warriors’ 30.

The UCLA product finished the game with 34 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, shooting 13-of-26 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range, and a perfect 6-of-6 free throws.

The Thunder have now beaten the Warriors twice this season, winning 108-91 at Oklahoma City on November 22 as well.
