Around this time last year, Derrick Rose left the Cleveland Cavaliers and was reportedly contemplating retirement after not being able to run due to a serious left ankle injury. Fast forward to today, and Rose is now having a stellar season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Denver Nuggets point guard Isaiah Thomas, who was teammates with Rose in Cleveland, says that is inspirational.

Entering Saturday, Derrick Rose is averaging 19.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists off the Timberwolves' bench. The former league MVP is shooting 48.2 percent from the field, 47.6 percent from beyond the arc and 85.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Rose, who has undergone four knee surgeries, is still one of the fastest players in the game, but now he has a 3-point game to go along with his driving ability. Since his 50-point game on Halloween against the Utah Jazz, Rose has been the best 3-point shooter in the NBA.

Isaiah Thomas is currently recovering from the arthroscopic hip surgery he had in March. There's no timetable for his return to the court, but hopefully he has the same type of success that Rose is having in Minnesota. Like Rose, who is being coached again by Tom Thibodeau, Thomas is being reunited with an old coach in Denver in Michael Malone.
