The Toronto Raptors are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the league. They currently hold the second spot in the Eastern Conference standings and are primed to make a deep run in the playoffs. And they just became one of the favorites to win the title when they acquired Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Marc Gasol recently spoke to the media after joining the Raptors in New York, and the former All-Star seems to be pretty excited about his new team's chances of winning the championship this year.

Although he's a bit past his prime, Gasol is still putting up decent numbers this season. In 53 games with the Grizzles, the 11-year veteran is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He's also shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from 3-point territory.

Gasol was instrumental in the Grizzlies' most recent playoff runs, but throughout his career, he hasn't really gotten a clear title shot in the loaded Western Conference.

When Memphis decided that it was time to rebuild, Gasol was put on the trading block. The Raptors wasted no in trading for him, with Memphis receiving Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles and a 2024 second round pick from Toronto.

Now, Gasol will be a part of a team that has a legitimate superstar in Kawhi Leonard, something that he never had during his time with the Grizzlies. Still, he is expected to play a major role for the Raptors as they make one final push to steal the top seed in the East from the Milwaukee Bucks.

The future looks good for the Raptors, and Gasol.
