There was a time when Utah Jazz sharpshooter Joe Ingles was confident the 2019-20 season would resume. Fast forward to today though, and Ingles has changed his tune.

“I think originally, when we were in OKC, I assumed we would be in this two-week quarantine and then we’ll be back, like it will be two or three weeks, then we’ll be back playing,” the Jazz swingman told Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune.

“Obviously, that was very early on and I probably didn’t know as much as we all do now with the whole thing that’s going on. But honestly, my personal opinion is every week that we go along, it feels like it’s a less and less chance that we’re going to [return].”

The NBA suspended the 2019-20 season after Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell contracted it as well, though the two were the only players on the team to test positive.

Joe Ingles was averaging 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists for the Jazz prior to play getting suspended. The lefty was also shooting 44.1 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Jazz were in fourth place in the Western Conference standings before Gobert tested positive. They had a record of 41-23.

NBA owners are hopeful of resuming the season in the summer. However, the odds don't look that good as of now.
