It's nothing out of the ordinary to see professional athletes signing apparel for fans. Some patrons would do just about anything to acquire a piece of gear from their favorite player. There is one fan, however, who recently turned down an offer from Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell.

All throughout this season, Mitchell has been giving pieces of his gear to fans inside the various arenas he stops at along the way.

On Wednesday night, the Jazz were in New Orleans for a matchup against the Pelicans. Prior to the 114-104 victory, Mitchell began to prepare some of his gear on the visiting bench. Just behind him sat a young man with his father. Mitchell turned to the boy to offer his shoe, but he respectfully denied the gift — at first.

According to Jazz sideline reporter Kristen Kenney, the young fan actually took the shoe in the end. It seems he was a bit nervous.

Mitchell had a solid outing against the Pelicans. In 33 minutes of action, the former University of Louisville standout racked up 22 points on 10-of-18 shooting form the field (2-of-4 from beyond the arc), seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block. Derrick Favors added 25 points, while Rudy Gobert finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Mitchell and the Jazz will be back in action on Friday night, when they'll travel to Memphis for a matchup against the Grizzlies. Tip-off inside FedExForum is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
