Ini light of the recent changes made to the All-Star Game format, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green didn't shy away from saying what has been in many people's minds since the mid-February festivities took place in New Orleans.

The new format will not feature East or West for the first time, have two team captains pick their teammates; blacktop style, with the winning team able to donate their earnings to a local or nationwide charity.

“I think it's great, it adds some more excitement,” Green told ESPN's Nick Friedell. “I think the All-Star Game last year was pretty boring. So I think for the league office, Adam Silver, Michael Levine, and all those guys to take a look at that and say it's something else we need to do to bring some excitement to it, I think that's great. I think that definitely adds some excitement. Talking [about] the draft, all these different things, that's pretty unique, so I'm not sure how it turns out but I think it's a fantastic idea.”

While change could be exciting after many years of the non-competitive basketball exhibition that the ASG has become, there's also a reason for concern — as team captains can pick their friends again and again every year, making it a rather repetitive collection not worth seeing.

This dynamic was put in place to give players something more to compete for, as they often choose to go easy in order to maximize rest on their bodies, avoid injuries, and come back healthy for the latter part of the regular season.
